About Us

Ministry and Community Center Volunteer and ChildThe Ministry and Community Center was created as a 501 (c) (3) non profit organization in 2006 as an extension of Ebenezer Ministries, a 1200-member church dating back to the 1960s. Located in Burton, Michigan, the Ministry and Community Center is devoted to serving as an educational resource that builds local capacity, both individual and community. To this end, it provides educational tutoring, training, counseling and other educational, human services and materials that promote the well being — the spiritual, emotional, intellectual, physical and economic health — of children, adults and families in Genesee County, Michigan and beyond.

Because strong and healthy families are the staple of every community, facilitators at Ebenezer Ministries have, for more than 30 years, devoted a great deal of time and effort focusing on families and each member of the family unit. These programs and activities include daily academic tutoring for middle and high school students, weekly mentoring for youth and young adults, as well as pre-marriage counseling, marriage counseling, and divorce counseling.

Other efforts have focused specifically on family communication and relationships, family and child mentoring, and aiding and empowering males to serve as true fathers who act as caring, present and responsible visionaries for their families. Because the work became too overwhelming for the church, Ebenezer Ministries created the Ministry and Community Center in 2006, a separate 501 (c) (3) organization, with the charge to lead the way on this important mission. Its operations are located two doors down from the church, in a separate facility with more than 15,000 square feet of meeting, office and conference room space.
